Over the weekend, Rice was kind enough to give the students a 4 day break. Unfortunately, however, the rains had hit Houston hard last Monday and there was no polo in Houston as a result.
On Thursday I had a photo shoot with some of the inspirational kids at the Texas Children’s Cancer Center and we had a great time hanging out together and getting to know one another. I look forward to visit my young friend Dezma next week. I gave her a new La Sarita shirt and she gave me a FIGHT LEUKEMIA wristband. Love U Dezma! Later that afternoon, I had some meetings for the Houston Polo Week. It’s coming along slowly but surely and I hope it will help me make my mark in Houston.
I was then invited to play in Dallas with my close friend Will Beuck. On Saturday morning, I drove to the Prestonwood Polo Club about 43 miles further north of Dallas city itself. The overall journey took 5 hours and I was quite tired when I got there! Everyone in Dallas was really welcoming and I think I played a pretty good game despite having not played outdoors in 4 months! That evening, Will and my new friends Steve, Wyatt and his girlfriend Melanie, went to a restaurant called R+D that does experimental gourmet food for a post polo talk and just to get to know each other. I got along really well with all these fantastic people and am so glad that I made some new friends. I was invited to play again the next day and Will and I headed to the Ritz Carlton to relax and to share our ideas on polo. Will is a truly fantastic guy and he has some great thoughts on how to grow the game and like me, he is passionate about doing so through philanthropic efforts.
The next day, we played at another field and it was great. I’ll let the pictures do the talking
